Property Update: A New Chapter for “The View of Asheville”

We’re excited to share an update on the future of “The View of Asheville,” the breathtaking property we represented in a $7.4 million sale in 2023.

On March 19, 2026, Buncombe County officials announced the successful closing of the +/- 342 acres atop Deaverview Mountain—marking a significant milestone for the project in partnership with the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy (SAHC). The acquisition was made possible largely through grant funding, including nearly $4.5 million from the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program (ORLP) awarded to Buncombe County, along with a $4.37 million grant from the North Carolina Land and Water Fund (NCLWF) awarded to SAHC.

This property, also known as Spivey or Deaverview Mountain, is one of the most visible and significant landscapes near downtown Asheville. The sweeping views, mature hardwood forests, springs, meadows, and established trail network make it an ideal setting for outdoor recreation and environmental education. Buncombe County’s plans for a park will preserve this unique ecosystem, protect the watershed, and provide locals and visitors with meaningful access to nature just six miles from the heart of the city.

When we brought this property to market, we knew it was something special. The views alone, stretching from the Biltmore Estate to Mount Mitchell, Cold Mountain, and beyond, are enough to take your breath away. But more than that, The View of Asheville represented an opportunity for visionary stewardship, and we’re thrilled to see it moving toward a future that prioritizes conservation, access, and long-term impact.
